The Department was established toward the end of the Fifth Plan. Teaching work has initiated during 1982-83 academic session. At present, the department is offering M.A., P.G. Diploma in HRD, P.G. Diploma in Guidance & Counseling. M.Phil. Psychology and Ph.D. courses in Psychology. The teaching programme is oriented toward imparting training in core areas and developing professional skill relevant to application in various fields. In addition, the students are required to prepare research proposals, perform data analysis, conduct field studies and present seminars. The research facilities are available in the area of Experimental Psychology. Applied Social Psychology, Human Development, Cross Cultural Psychology, Cognitive and Affective Processes, Mental Health and Stress. Rural Development, Motivation in Educational Setting, Environmental Psychology and Organizational Behavior. The department has a fully equipped laboratory and computers for teaching and research purposes. In recognition of its academic achievements, the State UGC has identified this department as a Centre for Excellence.
