Department of Psychology


The Department was established toward the end of the Fifth Plan. Teaching work has initiated during 1982-83 academic session. At present, the department is offering M.A., P.G. Diploma in HRD, P.G. Diploma in Guidance & Counseling. M.Phil. Psychology and Ph.D. courses in Psychology. The teaching programme is oriented toward imparting training in core areas and developing professional skill relevant to application in various fields. In addition, the students are required to prepare research proposals, perform data analysis, conduct field studies and present seminars. The research facilities are available in the area of Experimental Psychology. Applied Social Psychology, Human Development, Cross Cultural Psychology, Cognitive and Affective Processes, Mental Health and Stress. Rural Development, Motivation in Educational Setting, Environmental Psychology and Organizational Behavior. The department has a fully equipped laboratory and computers for teaching and research purposes. In recognition of its academic achievements, the State UGC has identified this department as a Centre for Excellence.

M.A. (Psychology)

Eligibility Graduate with a minimum of 50% marks in theory papers. Preference will be given to those student having Hons. Degree in Psychology.

Duration One Year.
b Post graduation in Psychology/ Education/ Sociology/ Social work/ Management/ Home Science or MBBS with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
Sponsored candidate having graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and three year experience after graduation or post graduation degree with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and one year experience after PG Degree.


M.Phil. (Psychology)

The Department offers Ph.D. programme in the areas of Social, Organizational Behavioral, Development, Cognitive, Environmental and Cross culture Psychology.
