The Department of Environmental
Science and Limnology is imparting instruction at the Master and Research
Degree levels. These courses have been started with the objective to
achieve ecologically sustainable development of the region. This broad
based multidisciplinary programme also provides opportunity to study
various Limnological aspects of our inland freshwater resources. The
importance of inland water resources for the welfare of mankind invites
attention to understand their functioning and relation with the
terrestrial ecosystem. Major thrust under this programme is laid on the
study of Land water interaction; various types of pollution in Air, Soil
and water; Biological diversity and production; Conservation, management
and Rehabilitation aspects of Ecosystem; Remote sensing application, GIS,
Microbiology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Environmental
Microbiology, The M.Sc. Environmental Science and Limnology are two year
instructional programmes comprising of theory and laboratory courses,
besides field studies. The department follows semester system which strive
a emphasizing the learning process and optimal utilization of time with
premium on regularly and flexibility. An essential feature of programme is
the component of internal assessment, where under the students assessed
regularly though seminar, quiz testes etc.
