The Department of
Genetics was established in the year 1982. After the decision of Executive
Council of the University Biochemistry course was merged in this
Department and renamed as Department of Biochemistry & Genetics in year
2009. It offers programmes leading to the degree of M.Sc. in Genetics,
M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Genetics. It imparts teaching and
training in major fields like Plant Tissue Culture, Human Genetics,
Cytogenetics, Population Genetics, Behavioural Genetics, Clinical
Genetics, Biochemical Genetics and Biochemistry.

Ph.D.
IN GENETICS
This
Department is an approved research center for conducting Ph.D. students
can apply for Ph.D. under the registered supervisor of the department.
After taking consent from the chosen supervisor students may obtain
registration form and ordinance 14 by paying Rs. 200/- (Non refundable and
likely to be changed). Duly signed form (by supervisor) may submit to
Ph.D. Cell/Academic Section of this University along with registration
fees Rs. 3600/- (Non refundable and likely to be changed). Departmental
tuition and library fees is to be submitted as per University norms per
semester. The form and ordinance 14 is available from the Mitra counter of
the University. Six months after filling the form the student has face a
Research Degree Committee (RDC) after which, if approved, he / she will be
registered under the supervisor. Other rules apply according to ordinance
14.
