The Department of Continuing Education and Extension Programme was established in the year 1978 under the programme of NAEP. It offers the courses of M.A. Population Education, Diploma in Population Education, P.G. Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education, M.A. Extension & Rural Development, M.A. Education two year and B.E. one years course and also going to start the M.Phil. (Education) one year.

Department imparts teaching, training, research and extension in the major fields of education such as Adult and Continuing Education, Population Education, Extension Education and Rural Development and Education UGC, New Delhi recognized this department as a Nodal Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the UGC Programme of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education of  Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh region since 1992.

The Department has been extending training programmes for college principals, programme officers, supervisors, volunteers, instructors and master trainers since 1984. The focus of training is on concepts, methods, problems and strategies to handle problems in organizing adult and continuing education programme. The department also organized short term courses of 1-3 months duration during each session.

The dissertation programme for postgraduate course is being conducted under the guidance and supervision of faculty members of the department.

Ph.D. programmes are being conducted under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Neerja Sharma, Professor and Head, Prof. Kalika Yadav, Director and Dr. H.K. Khandai, Lecturer, (B.Ed, HOD).
